
Calvi
Calvi is located on the gulf of Calvi, on the mediterranean Sea and protected by a fortified citadell built on a rocky promontory. Because of its strategic location Calvi was involved in most of the events of the complicated history of Corsica. It is a prosperous town and home to an expert regiment of the French foreign region.
Calvi is famous for its popular beachside resort with turquoise waters of the Golfe de Calvi backed by the soaring. Galeria and Girolta the seaside port is also one of the famous tourist place that is worth visiting and the Ile Rousse bustling beach resort founded by Pasquale Paoli in 1758 and in the center of this is the Oceanographique a sea life center is really an amazing place to visit. Some of the other attractions are the St-Antonino a hill top village with some breathtaking views of the Balagne region known as the garden of Corsica, Eglise St Jean Baptise a 13 th century church rebuilt inn 1570 with famous ebnoy statue of Jesus which was thought to have saved Calvi from the Saracens and Chapelle de Norte-Dame de la Serra a handsome chapel sited on a hill top with superb 360 degree views. Among the museums the most famous museum is the Musee de la Corse displaying an interesting insight to traditional Corsican customs and traditions.
