Travel guide to Spain

Calpe
Calpe is one of the smaller resorts in Spain, but offers a combination of the beach and a quiet resort, unlike many places where being near a beach means forfeiting peace and quiet. One of the main things that people know about this area is the rock known as the Penon de lfach. There are amazing views around the local beaches and bays and the view also extends to the Costa Blanca.
Driving around this area can be peaceful and the rock can be reached either by the AP-7 highway where you leave at exit 64 in Altea, or there is the N-332 national road. The N-332 is the road which will be used to bring holiday makers into Calpe from Alicante. It is about 63 km from Alicante and 121 km from Valencia so a drive there for a day out is always an option.
After spending some time on the beach it will be enjoyable to walk around the peaceful churches in the village – the Iglesia Antigua and the church Enora de las Nieves. There is proof of all the different nations that invaded Calpe and the main culprits were the pirates. There is an archeological museum not far away and this has reminders of the inhabitants from the 4th century to the 8th. For full details on the places of interest it will be best to contact the Calpe Tourist Information office on Tel: 965 83 69 20. As well as having a wide variety of things to see and do in Calpe there are a number of car hire companies meaning that it will be easier to explore the surrounding areas. There are four beaches where it is possible to surf and there are also a number of golf courses.
