Getting around Boston is not that easy. The roads are unplanned and complicated as they are the paved versions of the 17th century dirty roads and cattle trails.
Driving around Boston is really not that good an idea. The roads are arranged haphazardly enough to get you totally confused. What you can do is take the subways- this is quite famous among the tourists as well as the Bostonians.
The public transports in Boston are quite famous for being inexpensive and exclusively effective. The transportation system in Boston or the “T’ is good enough for you to take you to all the places of interest.
While you are planning to travel the towns outside the city you can go for the commuter rails. Though it has limited frequency compared to the subway and it's not recommended for travel within the city itself.
While exploring Boston you must remember that the north and south stations are not inter-connected. So you just can’t mix up the trains and expect to reach your destiny.
A trip to the downtown can be enjoyable on foot. But if you are thinking of a late night travel do consider hiring taxis.
Besides, there are also water shuttles available for traveling around the city. This might make an interesting experience.
