Till the end of the 19th century, a large scale urbal recostruction project was undertaken, and Bologna preseved the tag of the best Medieval cities in the Europe,, and in the present day it is unique in its history. There is a triangular piazza at the south east of the elagant via Santo Stefano before the Basilica di santo Stefano. The credit for the best church goes to the basilica di San Petronio, The city was named after the city’s patron saint. The construction for the building started in 1392 to a plan that would made the basilica bigger than St Peter’s in Rome.Basilica Santurario della Madonna di san Luca , this hill top sanctuary is visible on a clear day from the most part the city. The construction for this beautiful sanctuary started in 18th century and is cinnected to the city walls by a lovely long portico, or covered waklkway. Fontana del Nettuno(Foutain Of Neptune) , it was found in the middle of of piazza del Nettuno, between the Palazzao Comunale and Palazza Re Enzo. It was commisioned by the Pope Pious IV, following an urban renovation project. Despite having suffered from considerable bombing damage in 1944, Bologna's historic centre, one of Europe's largest, contains a wealth of Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque artistic monuments of primary importance.
