Biarritz is an elegant coastal town stationed in the Bay of Biscay in south west of France. It is approximately 8km from Bayonne and 11km from Spain’s border. The town is very luxurious and is a popular tourist destination site especially for those who love surfing. As of 2007 the town’s population was slightly above 27,000.
The town was initially invaded by the Vikings in 840 and was later occupied by the Scandinavians who settled in the region above the Gardague Beach. The town become well known in 1854 when the wife of Napoleon III established a palace on the beach that is currently the Hotel du Palais. In the present town the city has become a principal tourist destination site for visitors from all over the world and as such is developing its nightlife hugely.
One can get to Biarritz by car from Paris, which is about 480 miles away and takes about seven or so hours, or by train though the train station is close to 3km from Biarritz. Biarritz main sites include the Asiatica museum that is home to a considerable number of collections of Asian art mostly from India and other places.
