Beziers is a small city in Languedoc in the southwest of France and is located on a small bluff above the river Orb about 10 km from the Mediterranean. Beziers was a Launguedoc stronghold of the Cathars whom the Catholics detemined were heretics and whom they exterminated in the Albigensian cursade. The Canal du Midi building which brought a new lease of life to the city and then Beziers re-established itself as the wine growing capital of Languedoc and commercial and industrial town.
Bezier town was completely destroyed in the wars against the Cathars but it has rehabilitated itself to a great tourist destination.
