City of Destination
Rather than the capital of Switzerland, Berne is also the important city for the diplomats and consists of the major sites of the international organization and meeting. With origins dated back to the 12th century, it is one of the oldest and loveliest cities in the Europe. The Berne are seen as the provincial town rather than mere a city. In the calendar year, the united national declared it as the World Cultural landmark. Berne joined the Swiss Confederation in 1353. In 1848, it replaced Zurich as the seat of the federal government. The city stands on a thumb of land that's bordered on three sides by the Aare River, hence the several bridges connecting various sections of the city. This charming city mingles modern with the old, in recent year changes made to the resident and added contemporary-styles homes and structure to the historic environment. Berne is a popular starting point for the many excursions to the lakes and peaks of the Berneese Oberland, a recreational area not too far from the capital.
