Zytglogge, The Clock tower has an imposing presence at the center of the old town, originally constructed partly in wood as the westernmost city gates in 1218-20. The Clock tower is as much as the symbol of Berne. From the Zytgogge, there is branching of the atmospheric lanes in all direction. The walking tour covers notable sights. There is wide and beautiful cobbled thoroughfare at both side of the Zytglogge. The Marktgasse is at the west and known as the heart of Berne’s shopping centre, while at the east there is elegant Kramgasse with fair share of commerce, and featuring many Baroque faceds stuck on the medieval arcaded building early in the eighteenth century. 100m west of the Munster, Casinoplatz –casino sees more concertgoers than gamblers, from where tram heads south to the Helvetiaplatz museums. Berne’s late –Gothic Munster is the highest of Switzerland and its sonorous bells dominates the quite city. It’s a reverential and quite awe-inspiring place, both for its lofty, gloomy interior and the terrific views from its tower. Lorraine, at a short walk north of the train station was a dyed-in-the-wool working district of late 19th century. In last decades it attracted a growing population of students and young people who have created a funky, relaxed community atmosphere which nonetheless doesn’t exclude the many old-timers still in the neighborhood
