The whole of the Basel is divided into two parts: the Greater Basel and the Basel Proper. There is historical reason for this division but the differences don’t apparent inside the city. The many fast food joints, cinemas, cafes, reasonably priced clothes and CD shops around the Barfüsserplatz make it especially attractive to teenagers and the Music Center claims to have the biggest selection of soundtracks throughout Switzerland. The most neglected area for a long time, The Heuwaage, has been now seen as an upturn in future. Developments such as the new Kino-Kind cinema, the Filmpalast have given the area new momentum. Bahnhofsareal, which is placed around the central rail station, now dominates in hotels.
