When to go Australia
Due to its position on the opposite side of the Equator relative to the USA, the seasons of Australia are opposite those of USA's – when it is summer in the USA, it is winter in Australia, and vice versa. This also means that it gets colder the more you go southward. If you intend to visit Australia in June, when it is winter there, the temperature in Cairns would be somewhat warmer than it would be in Adelaide.
Australia falls within two climatic zones: the temperate region and the tropical region. About 40% of Australia falls in the tropical region, including the northern regions. In the tropical regions, the weather is either wet (during summer) or dry (during winter). The wet season is very hot and humid in the tropical region. If you intend to visit the Great Barrier Reef or other tropical areas of Australia, the ideal time to do so is during the Australian winter. This is ideal for families who are out to spend their summer holidays – what can possibly be more fun than experiencing cold weather in the time of the year you knew as summer all your life?
The temperate region has much milder temperatures, and can be visited all round the year without having to worry about the weather.
