All year, Amsterdam welcomes tourists to the city with open arms. The city is host to festivals in virtually every month. The summers in Amsterdam are rife with arts festivals. In June, the Holland Festival celebrates the performing arts with showcases of talents in music, opera, drama, and dance. The Amsterdam Roots Festival in June is an open air music event. July offers the Julidans festival of contemporary dance, Vondelpark Open Air Theatre, and a classical music concert series called Robeco Summer Concerts. In August, art lovers will enjoy the Prinsengracht open air classical music concert and the Uitmark, which marks the start of the fall cultural season. Also in the summer is a culinary festival (Taste of Amsterdam) in July, Amsterdam International Fashion week, a circus extravaganza called De Parade, and the annual gay pride festival of Canal Pride. The fall is also popular for visits to the city. In September, the street festival of Jordaan Festival is full of activities and entertainment for the entire family while the National Restaurant Week whets the palates of local and visiting foodies. The four nights long Amsterdam Dance Event is held in October and is a party like no other with techno and dance music blaring until the morning hours. In November, museums open their doors at night for the annual Museumnacht (Museum Night) and the International Documentary Film Festival of Amsterdam screens documentary films from across the globe. February celebrates the annual Chinese New Year in China town and Zeedijk. Springs in Amsterdam Offer Queens day on April 30, celebrating the birthday of the Queen with flea markets, concerts, and street parties. Finally, in May, travellers come from abroad to attend the Art Amsterdam modern art fair.
