Almeria
Almeria is a city in Andalusia, Spain. It is situated on the Mediterranean Sea and is the capital of the Almeria Province. It gets its name from the Arabic term Al-Mara’a which translates to “The Watchtower.” Almeria covers an area of roughly 295 square kilometers and has a population of about 190 000 people living within its borders. The city was founded in 955AD by Calih Abd-ar-Rahman III initially as a principal harbor to strengthen his Mediterranean defenses. These days the city relies on agriculture for its primary economic source, located primarily in the western part of the region.
