
Getting to Alicante
Alicante has brilliant transportation among main Spanish cities with good rail network and highways. Tourists can also come here by ferry or bus.
By car
It takes 2 hours to reach Alicante from Valencia, by taking E15 express highway and heading southwards down the coast. The same road also connects Alicante with Barcelona,taking about 5 hours. The journey from Madrid City is around 265 miles all the way through the eastern and central Spain.
By rail
There are about 12 trains each day from Madrid, taking 4-hours, with 8 trains from Barcelona. It takes only two hours from Valencia, 12 train schedules each day.
Talgo train, which connect this Alicante city with the Basque, Castilla and Montpellier of France.
By bus
Regular buses from Calle Portuqal bus station makes short trips from Benidorm, and from Valencia, also daily routes from Madrid, taking around 5-6 hours.
Alsa, with coaches within Spain and also to other European towns, and the Eurolines, providing services among different destinations all across Europe, are the two major coach services of long distance from Alicante.
By ferry
A daily route to Oran, around 9 hour’s journey. Palma and Ibiza also have a boat everyday, taking three hours and over six hours respectively.
By air
The El Altet International Airport serves flights from the chief European cities like London, Rome, Hamburg and Paris. It has 10 local daily flights connecting Madrid, about 3 or 4 flights from Barcelona and Seville a week.
