Travel guide to Italy

Alghero
Alghero is situated on the houses of a beautiful bay on the northwest coast of Sardinia. It is a joyful little town with about 45,000 inhabitants lively and animated throughout the year which maintains extremely suggestive traditions. The surrounding walls and the towers of Aragonese building, the beaches, caves and cliffs make Alghero a unique place to visit.
A popular attraction is the boat ride to Neptune’s Grotto an impressive deep marine cave in the sheer cliffs at Capo Caccia. Alghero was not greatly bothered by foreign influences until it suffered heavy bombings in the world war II. The Sardinians built bunkers in strategic locations around the city are still standing today as the reminders of Alghero’s more troubled times.
Most of the Alghero’s sights are in the lively citadel where restaurants and bars are out on the car free streets. Nightlife is sedate tending more to sipping cocktails on a sidewalk café and watching the sunset from the seafront.
