The airport that services the Algarve region of Portugal is the Faro (FAO). Many airlines use this airport for flights to the Algarve region. Faro Airport is only 2.6 kilometres west of the city of Faro and enjoys a long summer tourist season between March and October. The outlying areas of Algarve are accessible by Faro Airport by local bus, taxi, or car rental services. In the city centre of Faro, there is a train station, which can take travellers to a number of areas including the capital, from which rail travellers can also connect to the Spanish mainland.
