Getting to Algarve
The airport that services the Algarve region of Portugal is the Faro (FAO). Many airlines use this airport for flights to the Algarve region. These include: Aer Lingus, British Airways, EasyJet, Monarch, Thomas Cook Airlines, and TUIfly. Faro Airport is only 2.6 kilometres west of the city of Faro and enjoys a long summer tourist season between March and October. The outlying areas of Algarve are accessible by Faro Airport by local bus, taxi, or car rental services. In the city centre of Faro, there is a train station, which can take travellers to a number of areas including the capital, from which rail travellers can also connect to the Spanish mainland. The Faro Airport Shuttle bus takes travellers to some of the local resorts while a more wide-range local bus carries passengers from the airport to various cities in Portugal and Spain and back to the city centre. Car hire in Algarve Faro Airport is a wonderful way to see the surrounding area in the Algarve region as well as taking trips to neighbouring Spain. There are so many great things to see throughout the region that a car hire is the perfect way to have full freedom to explore the land without being tied down to schedules, timetables, and fares. The roadways of Algarve are well maintained, though some of the smaller rural roads are not much more than a dirt track. However, the A22 motorway, finished in 2007, is a fresh route to take throughout the area and stretches from Bensafrim at the west of the countryside to the border between Spain and Portugal at Monte Francisco. At Faro Airport, there are car hire desks for Auriga Crown, Autojardim, AVIS, Budget, Europcar, Guerin, Hertz, and Sixt auto hire agencies.Getting to Algarve
