
About Algarve
Algarve situated on the extreme South of Portugal and the Portuguese King conquered the territory from the moors in 1292. The hills of Espinhacao de Cao, Monchique and Caldeirao are located on the northern part of Algarve. The region with its fig trees, orange groves and almond trees is the most fertile land in Portugal.

Museu Municipal Dr. Jose Formosinho – the municipal museum includes replicas of the fret-cut chimney of the Algarve, the three dimensional cork carving, 16 th century vestments, ceramics, and 17 th century embroidery.
Antigo Mercado de Escravos – the old customs house from the age of exploration and the arcade slave market, the one of its kind in Europe.
Loule Castle – the ancient town of Loule is the ruins of an old Moorish castle that had been preserved, restored and made part of that town’s historical museum.
