Local fish are the main product in Albufeira, and tourists will enjoy shopping the markets for fish caught by locals as well as accompanying their purchase with local fresh produce. The Calicos market is held the first and third Tuesday of each month. Guia market is held on the third Friday of the month, and the Paderne market is held on the first Saturday of the month. Additionally, flea markets are held on the second and third Saturday at Calicos, the first Sunday at Olhos d’Agua, and the fourth Saturday of each month at Areias de S. Joao. Other events are seasonal. Albufeira is home to the unique offering of Car Boot sales, located in the Largo 25 de Abril in front of Town Hall. This is a fantastic place to pick up trinkets and even antiques at a great deal. Car hire at Faro airport, in the nearby city of Faro, offers on-site car hire desks to assist travellers with their ground transport needs.
