Albufeira Attractions
The Bell Tower – the tower part of the parish church was built in 1869 and has 28 meters of staircase to the top of the tower.
The Clock Tower – in the 19 th century the tower was adorned with an iron crown, which held the bell that rings out the hours is the symbol of the city at Rua Bernardino.
Misericordia Chapel – the chapel built on the site of a former Arab mosque is located at the Rua Henrique Calado. The chapel was named and restored in 1499 as the ‘Capela da Misericordia’.
The Parish Church – the church located on the Rua da Igreja Nova dates back to the 18 th century was blessed by the bishop of the Algarve in the 18 th century.
Santa Ana Church – the temple was built in the 18 th century is located in the Largo Jacinto d’Ayet aquare. The main chapel has a wooden alter piece is believed to have been made by the masters Francisco Xavier Guedelha and Joao Baptista.
Santa Ana Doorway – it is one of the three doorways of the castle and it was named because it provides the access to the chapel of Santa Ana, which disappeared in the 1755 earthquake.
S. Sebastiao Church – the church was built in the mid of 18 th century in the Miguel Bombarda square the architectural style is of popular inspiration. The dome and the doorways, which are adorned with stone masonry in Manueline style.
Castle Walls – the only remains of one of the towers of the castle wall located at the Rua Joaquim Pedro Samora at the northern gateway.
Town Hall – the building was constructed in the medieval period and the actual date is unknown.
The Old Inn Building – the building is located at Rua Henrique Calado and one of the few constructions to survive the 1755 earthquake.
Xorino Cave – the geological formation under the cliff served as a shelter for the fugitive Moors during the Christian reconquest of Albufeira.
