 GLASGOW PRESTWICK AIRPORT INFORMATION

Location of the Airport: Prestwick airport is located in Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland just north of Ayr and to the south of Troon. It is Scotland’s fastest growing airport. The airport is expecting to serve up to 3 million passengers a year. This airport is relatively quite airport by international standards but serves most of Scotland with European flights, it is ultra modern and spacious in design and has all the hallmarks of an international ariport.

Traveling to and from the Airport:

  • Rail: The airport train station is situated just outside the terminal building and train serves to the central Glasgow. This airport is the only airport in Scotland served by its own railway station.
  • Bus: Frequent bus service is available from the airport to the city center, they run every half an hour and operates seven days a week.
  • Taxi: Taxi’s are readily available from the taxi rank outside the terminal building and they run to the city center and other destinations in the city.
Information Desk: The airport information desk is located on the ground floor of the terminal building opened 24 hours providing information on flights and tourist information as well.

Airport Facilities:

  • Currency: Number of ATMs are available all throughout the terminal building, only one bureau de change is available next to the entrance to the departure lounge operated by Travelex.
  • Refreshments: Gallery Café and the Graceland Bar is available on the first floor of the terminal, refreshments can be obtained from the Cloud 9 café. There is also a bar which is closed during the night and is opened at 5 AM.
  • Shopping: The airport is well equipped with shops including a newsagent, gift shop and an electrical goods store, a duty free shop is available after the security.
  • Left and lost luggage: The left luggage facility is operated by the security and there is no lost property office at the terminal building.
  • Other Facility: There is a children’s play area and an amusement arcade at the terminal building.
Disabled Facility: Wheel chair accessibility, ramps, lifts and reserved seating areas are available at the terminal for the disabled passengers. Lowered telephone, induction loop for the hearing impaired passengers are available at the terminal. Passenger requiring special needs should contact the information center on 0871 223 0700 to pre arrange assistance.
