Location of the Airport: The airport is located 10 miles southwest of Manchester and can be reached easily by junction 5 of the M56 motorway which connects with the M60, Manchester’s ring road. The airport has been voted European Airport of the year in 2001 it is served by around 95 airlines flying more than 19 million passengers to over 170 destinations.
Traveling to and from the Airport:
- Rail: The rail station located near the airport serves train to the city center every ten minutes. They also run to Manchester Piccadilly rail station and there are night service trains to and from Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds and Blackpool.
- Bus: Regular bus service is avialable from the airport to the city center of Manchester and other destinations in the city and the surrounding areas in the country. Coaches are also available from the airport.
- Taxi: Taxis are readily available from outside the terminal building operated by Airport Carz and charge fares per meter in the cab. They run to the city center and the surrounding places.
Information Desk: The airport information desk is available in all the three terminals providing information on flight and the staff members are also availalble for any special assistance required by the passengers. Airport Facility:
- Currency: ATMs, bureau de change and banking facilities are all available in all the three terminals of the airport. There is also a post office in terminal 1, Internet facility and fax facility is also available in all the three terminals of the airport.
- Refreshments: Numerous food outlets are available at the terminal building, nearly 40 places to eat and drink is available in three terminals including Mancunium Café, County Kitchen, Lancaster Brasserie, pub and Food Village.
- Shopping: Number of shopping opportunities is available in all the three terminals including fashion gallery, gifts, Alpha airport shopping and Dixons tax free shops.
- Left and Lost Luggage Facility: Left and lost luggage facility is available only in terminal 1, tel: (0) 161 489 3463; and terminal 2, tel: (0) 161 489 6031. There is no left or lost luggage facility in terminal 3.
- Other Facility: There are two multi faith prayer rooms with easy access for everyone, wash facility located in the walkway between terminal 1 and 3 and there is a 24 hour first aid service available at all the three terminals. Baby change rooms and children play area and Dry Cleaning Center is in termianl 1.
